Hope Memorial Bridge

Hope Memorial Bridge, built in 1932, crosses the Cuyahoga River and connects downtown Cleveland with Ohio City. The bridge is best known for its eight massive Art Deco sculptures, the Guardians of Traffic, which stand at both ends of the bridge. Each guardian holds a vehicle, symbolizing transportation and progress. The sculptures later inspired the name of Cleveland’s MLB team, the Cleveland Guardians.
