Homer Watson House & Gallery

Homer Watson Boulevard is a major north–south road in south Kitchener. It was named to honour Homer Ransford Watson, a renowned Canadian artist from Doon. We visited the house where he lived and worked.

Homer Watson was a Canadian landscape painter born in 1855 in Ontario. He was mostly self-taught and became famous for painting rivers, farms, and rural scenery. His painting The Pioneer Mill brought him national recognition after it was purchased for Queen Victoria. Watson believed that nature and spirituality were closely connected, and he spent most of his life living and working in what is now the Homer Watson House & Gallery.
