The lands lie within the Haldimand Tract — a large land grant along the Grand River given to the Six Nations of the Grand River by the British in 1784 in recognition of their loyalty during the American Revolutionary War (1775 – 1783).

Eagles are known to inhabit this area, but I haven’t seen any today. Instead, there were many geese flying low overhead.
